New Year New You - Love your teeth in 2016!

Posted by Breathe on 14 January 2016 | 0 Comments

With a whole new year ahead, the world is your oyster. If your oral hygiene or teeth are aspects of your health that you’ve neglected or been putting off dealing with, then make 2016 the year you love your Smile!

Chiswick Park Dental offer many types of orthodontic treatment including the three popular ones below. If one of these sound like something that might benefit you, do not hesitate to get in touch with us and start 2016 with a brand new you.

Teeth Whitening, Implants & Orthodontics

Teeth whitening not only leaves you with a beautiful smile but with your confidence back. Having your teeth whitened by a professional is safe and will leave you with lasting results, unlike the DIY home methods which are likely to go wrong, leaving you with damaged teeth and temporary results. Unlike what many believe, teeth whitening has no negative impact to your teeth or overall health. In the 21st century, a beautiful smile and set of teeth is achievable for anyone who wants it.

A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully at the precise location of the intended tooth.   The main aim during installation of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone.

Almost all dental implants in use today are made from titanium or titanium alloy, materials that have been shown over many years to be well tolerated by bone.

In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures.

Invisalign is a crystal clear and almost invisible type of brace without the pain and hassle that accompanies a normal set of braces. Since their introduction to practices in 1999, Invisalign have grown more and more popular with patients over the year, with many celebrities jumping on the Invisa-bandwagon – and getting results. The treatment begins with your orthodontist making molds of your teeth, so that several Invisalign aligners can be made for you to change bi-weekly and wear at home. You will see results in considerably less time than with a fixed appliance, with the average treatment being complete after 12 months and as they’re virtually invisible, your friends may not even notice you’ve been wearing them!

Fixed Orthodontics - Today, fixed braces and appliances are very popular, in fact, fixed braces are the most commonly worn appliance.  Unlike Invisalign where you’re responsible for you own recovery by being disciplined enough to wear them, fixed braces take the hassle of that responsibility out of your hands (or mouth rather)! So you’re not a salve to the clock and constantly having to remember to replace each aligner.

With so many different types of fixed appliances available, it can be hard to know what does what and which you need to fix your teeth. Have a word with your orthodontist who will advise you on this.

One Direction’s Niall Horan famously wore fixed braces which became his signature feature – who says you can’t look hot in braces?! With more and more adults and celebrities opting for fixed braces and Invisalign, the stigma around aesthetics and braces is evaporating.
