I was a very very reluctant and nervous patient at the outset. Doctor Mistry's kind attention and care made me feel very comfortable. I cannot recommend the practise highly enough.

Teeth whitening

A simple cosmetic process with stunning effects

If you feel your teeth don’t appear as white as they used to do, you certainly aren’t alone. Caffeine, red wine, smoking... or just everyday living... so many things take their toll on the whiteness of your teeth. Teeth Whitening can take years off your appearance and make a world of difference to your self-confidence.

In both cases, a peroxide gel is applied to your teeth. Basically, the higher the concentration of peroxide, the greater the degree of whiteness – although higher concentrations can in some cases cause reactions such as increased sensitivity of the teeth. Rest assured that Chiswick Park’s highly experienced professionals will ensure the treatment you receive is appropriate to your individual case.

Some people aren’t suitable for treatment, so we’ll begin with a consultation to assess your suitability. At this stage, we should also be able to predict how great a difference we will be able to make to the final appearance of your teeth.

Home-based tooth whitening

Home whitening begins with an appointment here at the practice, in which we will take an impression of your teeth using dental putty. This is needed to produce custom-made teeth whitening trays for you to use at home. After the trays have been made (usually within 5-10 days) you’ll return to us so we can fit them. We’ll show you how to apply the whitening gel and explain everything you need to know. Some trays need to be worn overnight, others for just one to two hours per day.

The "WHITE" kits supplied by Chiswick Park for home use include professional whitening gel, ensuring that they produce consistently excellent results.

Aiming for the best possible results

Naturally, the degree of whitening achieved varies from individual to individual, and also depends on the type of system used. Unsurprisingly, people with heavily stained teeth tend to experience more dramatic results than those whose discolouration is slighter.

It’s important to remember that tooth whitening does not affect the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings. If necessary, we can change these to match the colour of your whitened teeth.

Making sure you’re as comfortable as possible throughout the process

Although some people will experience no discomfort during the tooth whitening process, it’s normal to feel some sporadic sensitivity either during initial treatment or within the following 48 hours. At Chiswick Park we take great care to minimise these effects and will provide you with a special gel or moose to help with the sensitivity. You should avoid excessively hot or cold food and drinks within the first 48 hours of your whitening treatment.
